Ryleigh, a lively four-year-old Irish Setter, embodies the playful, affectionate, and delightfully goofy traits her breed is celebrated for. With the heart of a perpetual puppy, she’s always ready to chase balls, squeak her favorite toys, or snuggle up on the couch with her family at the end of a long day. Yet, behind her boundless energy and joyful spirit, Ryleigh has faced significant health challenges.
When she was around two years old, her family began noticing unusual spells. At first, these episodes were subtle—her head would bob slightly, though she remained aware of her surroundings. As time passed, the spells grew more intense, sometimes causing her body to stiffen and her movements to become jerky. Concerned, her family worked closely with their veterinarian, exploring various treatments to help manage her condition. At one point, Ryleigh’s care routine included multiple daily medications, some of which left her unsteady on her feet. Through it all, her love for chasing sticks and balls never wavered.
In their search for solutions, Ryleigh’s dad stumbled upon research from Colorado State University investigating hemp compounds for canine wellness. A neighbor running a CBD business also shared insights about its potential benefits. Feeling they had little to lose, the family decided to integrate CBD into Ryleigh’s daily routine.
The results brought a glimmer of hope. Ryleigh’s dad recalls how the more severe episodes became less frequent, and the milder ones occurred less often. “We were grateful for the change,” he shares. “It gave us peace of mind and more good days together.”
While Ryleigh still faces occasional challenges, they are far less frequent than before. Her vibrant spirit remains untouched—she continues to greet neighbors with a wagging tail, curl up beside her family at night, and race after sticks with the unmistakable joy of an Irish Setter. “CBD became part of how we support her,” her dad reflects. “Even with everything she’s been through, she hasn’t lost her spark. We’re grateful for every single day with her.”
